Altamonte Springs, Fla. - Playing outdoors in the warm Florida weather seemed to do the Vikings' men's team some good as CSU picked up wins over Illinois Wesleyan (7-0) and Rhode Island (4-3) in Altamonte Springs, Fla. on Sunday (March 13).

With the victories, the Vikings move to 7-7 on the season.

CSU easily handled Illinois Wesleyan in a morning match, sweeping the doubles point before taking six wins at singles. Rhode Island gave the Vikings more of a battle by claiming three wins at singles, but Cleveland State again swept the doubles point and garnered three victories in the singles matches to prevail.

"Both teams made us work for every point," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "They made us earn these victories. But it's good to be able to get to .500 on the year. This is what we wanted to accomplish down here."

Senior Eric Winn notched a pair of decisions at No. 1 singles, while junior Jordan Reynolds tallied wins at No. 4 and No. 5.

"I felt pretty relaxed out there knowing that the rest of the team was playing well," Winn said. "Everyone really stepped up when they needed to, and we came out on top."

The Vikings resume play Monday (March 14) against Bucknell at 4:00 p.m.
