Cleveland State Men’s Tennis Hosts Youngstown State To Close Out Regular Season Slate

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team will look to close out a perfect #HLTennis regular season slate on Saturday, hosting Youngstown State at 6:00 p.m. in the 2024 regular season finale. 

Last Time Out…
The Vikings went 3-0 over the weekend, improving to 18-6 on the year and 7-0 in league play after wins against IUPUI (6-1), Northern Kentucky (5-2) and Walsh (7-0).  

Vikings Extend Win Streak
With the three wins last weekend, Cleveland State extended its current win streak to 10 straight matches, marking the first 10+ match win streak since 2021. The Vikings are the only #HLTennis team to string together 10 or more consecutive wins this season. 

Cleveland State Remains Perfect In #HLTennis Play
With the two wins against IUPUI and Northern Kentucky last time out, the Vikings remained perfect in Horizon League play, improving to 7-0 this season. With a win on Saturday, the Vikings would cap off their fifth undefeated #HLTennis regular season slate, and first since 2021. 

Last Time In The MMTP
This weekend's match against Youngstown State will mark the final contest inside the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion for the Vikings this season, as they enter the weekend with a 10-1 record when playing at home. Over the last four years, Cleveland State has held quite the home court advantage, owning a 37-6 record at the MMTP. 

Abboud & Gedlitschka Named #HLTennis Doubles Team of the Week
Earlier this week the CSU duo of JuandeDios Abboud and Carl Gedlitschka picked up their third #HLTennis Doubles Team of the Week honor after posting a 2-0 record at No. 1 doubles last time out. The duo earned a 6-4 win against IUPUI and a 6-2 win against Northern Kentucky, improving to 17-10 on the year. In addition, the duo now ranks third on the CSU Doubles Wins List with 32 career wins as a tandem. 

Erler Records 50th Singles Win At CSU
With a 6-4, 6-4 win against IUPUI last weekend, Mikael Erler recorded his 50th singles win at Cleveland State, becoming one of two current Vikings with 50+ wins. Erler, who enters the regular season finale with 51 career wins, owns a 17-9 record on the season, including a perfect 7-0 mark in #HLTennis matches.
