Battle Named #HLTennis Singles Player of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After helping the Cleveland State men's tennis team open the Horizon League slate with a pair of wins, freshman Lincoln Battle has been named the Horizon League Singles Player of the Week. This marks the fifth time that Battle has earned the honor this season.

Last weekend, Battle helped the Vikings pick up a 5-2 win at Youngstown State and a 6-1 victory over Chicago State, improving to 12-6 on the year and 2-0 in #HLTennis play.

"Lincoln looked like a veteran in his first conference matches at the top of the lineup," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "He beat some good opponents this weekend, and I was proud of his mental focus on the courts and his high level of competition."

Playing at the top of the singles lineup, Battle earned a pair of straight-set victories improving to 13-7 on the year, including an 11-5 mark this spring.

Battle picked up a 7-5, 6-1 victory at YSU, before posting a 6-4, 7-6(4) win against Chicago State, with both wins coming at No. 1 singles.
