CHICAGO, Ill. - The Cleveland State men's tennis team closed out play at the DePaul Invite Saturday, picking up a 4-1 victory over Army to finish the weekend with a perfect 3-0 record. The Vikings also finished the weekend standing at 11-4 overall this season.

"We had a really good weekend, and I thought the guys brought it in all of the matches. They really came to play and didn't let any of the speed bumps hold us back," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "The team showed its toughness this weekend, and it was awesome to play a deep lineup and come away with three wins. Thanks to DePaul for hosting a nice tournament and bringing together some really good teams for some quality college tennis matches."

Cleveland State got out to the early 1-0 advantage after picking up the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Kade Mindry and Raul Teichmann earned a 6-4 victory at the top of the lineup, while Maxime Mareschal-Hay and Mikael Erler posted a 6-3 win at the No. 3 spot.

JuandeDios Abboud quickly gave the Vikings a 2-0 advantage after the start of singles play, as he picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win at the No. 6 spot before Army picked up a win at No. 5 singles to put the score at 2-1 CSU.

Cleveland State then earned a 3-1 advantage in the match following a 6-4, 7-6(3) decision from Mareschal-Hay at the top of the lineup, with the win marking the 50th singles win of his career and improving him to 10-3 this spring.

Erler picked up the clinching point at No. 2 singles on Saturday, earning a 6-2, 3-6, 6-0 victory to give the Vikings the 4-1 victory.
