Cleveland State Men’s Tennis Opens Roadswing Against Bryant & Binghamton

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team will open a seven-match roadswing this weekend, traveling to Binghamton to face the Bearcats and Bryant in a neutral site match. 

Match #11 | vs. Bryant (at Binghamton) | Saturday, February 18 | 1:00 p.m.
Match #12 | at Binghamton | Sunday, February 19 | 1:00 p.m.

Cleveland State will be entering the weekend on a two-match win streak, picking up a 6-1 victory against Ball State and a 7-0 sweep over Niagara last time out. With the two wins, the Vikings improved to 6-4 on the young season. 

The two matches this weekend will be the first two of a seven-match roadswing, as the Vikings will be away from the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion until late March. 

Earlier this week Maxime Mareschal-Hay was named the #HLTennis Singles Player of the Week after going 3-0 at No. 1 singles in the matches last weekend. Mareschal-Hay, who picked up all three of his wins in straight-sets, became the first Viking to earn Singles Player of the Week honors this season. 

Entering the weekend, Mareschal-Hay is tied for the team-lead with 12 singles wins on the year, joining Raul Teichmann who also has 12 victories. In addition, Kade Mindry has 11 singles wins so far this season, while Carl Gedlitschka has notched 10. 

Mareschal-Hay and Teichmann are both closing in on 50 career singles wins, Mareschal-Hay currently sitting at 47 victories and Teichmann sitting at 45 entering this weekend's matches. 

Last weekend's victories against Ball State and Niagara gave Cleveland State head coach Brian Etzkin 296 career victories, as he enters this weekend just four wins shy of reaching the 300-win milestone.
