KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Cleveland State men's tennis team wrapped up action at the WMU/Vredevelt Invite Sunday, with Mikael Erler picking up two singles wins on the final day of play.

Erler notched wins against Butler and Western Michigan, finishing the weekend with a 2-1 singles record.

JuandeDios Abboud also finished the weekend with a 2-1 singles mark after picking up a win yesterday and a 2-6, 7-6(5), 1-0(8) victory over Western Michigan today.

In addition, Kade Mindry and Hugo Chatras also earned singles wins on the final day of play, Mindry with a 6-2, 7-6(4) decision against Michigan State and Chatras with a 6-7(3), 7-6(6), 1-0(7) decision against Chicago State.

"This was a good tournament for us, I felt us developing and getting better throughout the entire weekend," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "Juan got us started off with two wins to begin the tournament and Mikael closed out strong with two wins to finish, with everyone else picking up wins between the two days. Overall, we went 4-0 in super tiebreakers this weekend, and I thought we played the pressure situations really well. We are now looking forward to a week off from competition, and returning to the courts at the ITA Regionals."

Cleveland State will return to action at the ITA Midwest Regional, with play beginning on Thursday, October 21. The 2021 ITA Midwest Regional will be hosted by Michigan State.
