Kade Mindry Set To Join Men’s Tennis Program For Upcoming Spring Season

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State men's tennis head coach Brian Etzkin announced the addition of Kade Mindry to the Viking lineup for the upcoming spring season Thursday afternoon, with Mindry set to join the Vikings in January as a midyear enrollee.

"I'm excited to have Kade join the team, not only is he a very good tennis player with a big upside, but he also has a proven track record of sportsmanship and leadership," Etzkin said. "His size, strength and weapons all lend themselves to excelling at the collegiate level, and he will be a great addition to this team on and off the court. I can't wait for him to join us in Cleveland for the spring season and become an integral part of our lineup."

Mindry will join the Vikings following an outstanding junior career, throughout which he was ranked in the top-five among South African players in his age group and earned a career-high ITF ranking of 719.

The Durban, South Africa native picked up a pair of top-150 ITF wins and three top-300 ITF wins during his junior career, and finished third and fourth at the U18 Nationals during 2019 and 2018, respectively.

Following his success on the court, Mindry was voted as the Players Player in his province for two straight years, while he was also nominated for the Zulu Natal Sportsman of the Year.

Mindry played his high school tennis at Kearney College, where he went undefeated during his final two years.
