Vikings Close Out Non-League Slate Against Case Western

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team will play its final non-league match of the season Saturday morning, hosting Case Western Reserve at 10:00 a.m. in the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion.

Last Time Out…
The Vikings improved to 2-0 in Horizon League play, earning a 4-3 victory against Youngstown State. With their 2-0 start to #HLMTEN play, the Vikings are one of three teams to be undefeated after two weeks of league play.

Vikings Return To The MMTP
After closing out the month of March with a four-match roadswing, the Vikings will return to the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion for a brief one-match stint this weekend. So far this year, Cleveland State owns a 6-2 mark when playing at home, and stands at 23-9 all-time in the MMTP.

Terry Closing In On Win #50
Entering this weekend's match against Case Western, sophomore Matthew Terry is just four wins shy of notching his 50th career victory. Terry, who enters the weekend with 46 career wins, stands at 18-11 overall and 8-7 this spring. Terry would become the 15th Viking all-time with 50+ career victories.

Slade & Mostardi On CSU Singles Wins List
Following wins against YSU last time out, Benjamin Slade and Nico Mostardi both added to their career win total, Slade entering Saturday's match in sole possession of sixth place on the CSU Singles Wins List and Mostardi ranking ninth. Slade currently has 74 career wins, while Mostardi stands at 65 victories.

…Slade In #HLMTEN Play
Following his win at No. 4 singles against YSU last time out, Benjamin Slade is now 9-0 in Horizon League regular season matches over the last two years. Slade posted a perfect 7-0 record during the 2018 regular season, and has picked up back-to-back #HLMTEN wins so far this year.

Bilinovich Closing In On Single-Season Wins List
Entering Saturday's match against Case Western, freshman Clark Bilinovich owns a team-high 23 singles wins and is just two wins shy of earning a spot on the CSU Single-Season Wins List. Bilinovich, who also has a team-best 14 wins this spring, became the 15th Viking to notch a 20-win campaign with a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Wooster earlier this year.

Head Coach Brian Etzkin
Brian Etzkin is in his 17th year at the helm of the Vikings, owning a 247-177 dual match record. Last year, Etzkin guided the Vikings to their sixth Horizon League Tournament title and sixth trip to the NCAA Tournament, while posting his 13th winning season at Cleveland State.

Scouting The Spartans
Case Western enters the weekend with a 14-5 record this spring, and is currently on a four-match winstreak. Entering Saturday's match, the Spartans are ranked No. 14 in the most recent Oracle/ITA Division III rankings.

This will be the seventh meeting between the two teams under head coach Brian Etzkin, with Cleveland State owning a 6-0 advantage in the all-time series.
