Mostardi Named #HLMTEN Singles Player Of The Week

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Following last weekend's Horizon League opening win at Green Bay, Cleveland State men's tennis junior Nico Mostardi has been named the Horizon League Singles Player of the Week. This marks the third weekly accolade for Mostardi this season, as he is the only #HLMTEN player to earn multiple singles player of the week honors.

"Nico kicked off Horizon League play in the right way last weekend, and has been playing some of his best tennis as we head down the stretch," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "Against Green Bay, he was really locked in physically and mentally, and helped the Vikings to a good team win in our first league match of the year."

Last weekend, Mostardi and the Vikings cruised to a 7-0 victory at Green Bay, marking the third straight year that Cleveland State has been victorious in their Horizon League opener. Overall, the Vikings now stand at 11-7 this season.

Mostardi picked up a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles against the Phoenix, improving to 18-10 overall this season and 10-6 this spring. Mostardi, who now owns a 7-1 record in regular season league matches over the last two years, has won seven of his last nine singles matches this spring.

For his career, Mostardi now has 64 career singles wins, ranking ninth on the CSU Singles Wins List.

Mostardi and the Vikings will continue Horizon League play this weekend, facing Youngstown State in Streetsboro, Ohio on Saturday, March 30.
