Men’s Tennis Heads South For Annual Spring Break Trip

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State men's tennis team will head south to the state of Texas for its annual Spring Break Trip next week, traveling to UTSA and Rice for a pair of dual matches.

Mostardi Leads Cleveland State Singles Lineup
Freshman Nico Mostardi continues to lead the Vikings at the top of the singles lineup, owning a team-best 7-5 singles record this spring after playing all 12 matches at the No. 1 spot. Mostardi, who has won four of his last six matches, is the first Cleveland State freshman to play at No. 1 singles since the 2011-12 season.

Radosevic Closing In On 50 Career Singles Wins
Entering the week, junior Mirko Radosevic is closing in on 50 career singles victories, currently owning 45 career wins. Radosevic, who has a 6-4 singles mark this spring, has won five out of his last seven matches. Radosevic would become the 12th Viking all-time to reach the 50-win milestone. 

Head Coach Brian Etzkin
Brian Etzkin is in his 15th year at the helm of the Vikings, owning a 213-149 dual match record. Etzkin has guided the Vikings to five Horizon League Tournament titles and five trips to the NCAA Tournament during his tenure. Etzkin recorded his 200th career victory with the men's team last spring, becoming just the second active Horizon League men's tennis coach to achieve the feat. 

Scouting The Roadrunners
Entering the week, UTSA stands at 3-12 this spring after going 0-3 at the C-USA Showcase over the weekend. UTSA's last victory came as a 4-2 decision over UT Rio Grande Valley, marking the only win out of the last 11 matches for UTSA. 

This will be the first meeting between the two teams under head coach Brian Etzkin.

Scouting The Owls
Rice currently stands at 14-5 this season and owns a No. 38 ranking in the most recent Oracle/ITA Men's National Team Ranking. The Owls participated in the C-USA Showcase over the weekend, posting a perfect 3-0 record against UAB (4-0), Southern Mississippi (4-2), and UTSA (4-0).

This will be the first meeting between the two teams under head coach Brian Etzkin.
