MUNCIE, Ind. - For the third straight weekend the Cleveland State men's tennis team brought home a title, as the doubles team of Matt Ford and Matt Kuelker claimed the title in the Flight B Doubles Draw.

"We had another great tournament this weekend, picking up another doubles title with Matt and Matt," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "We continue to make strides in our doubles play and everyone on the team is buying into our new doubles philosophy of `killer double'. Matt and Matt played well when they were freshmen and they are picking up right where they left off. They really stepped up their serves and volley play this weekend and have been playing great doubles along with the rest of the team."

After winning three matches during the first two days of the invite, Ford and Kuelker earned their title with an 8-3 victory over Colton Buffington and Van Damrongsri of Louisville.

Jorg van der Vloet made his way to the championship match of the Flight A Consolation bracket with a 3-1 record over Friday and Saturday, but came up short in a 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (4) decision against Luis Elizondo of Louisville in the final match.

Kuelker, Joe VanMeter and Niklas Jonsson also picked up consolation victories for CSU on the final day of the invite. Kuelker claimed a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Thomas Gans of IUPUI, VanMeter earned an 8-5 proset victory over Josh Malyon of Dayton and Jonsson earned a 1-6, 7-6 (4), 1-0 (6) win over Butler's Sam O'Neill.

"Jorg had a great tournament this weekend, he played better every day and I am very excited at the level he is playing at right now," Etzkin said. "Jorg had an unlucky break in his final match, but he played a solid weekend of tennis for us. Niklas took another step forward in his consolation match today, he was able to switch his strategy halfway through the match and pull out the victory. Joe and Matt Kuelker also got nice wins for us on the final day of the invite."

The Vikings will now prepare for the ITA Midwest Regional, which begins on Thursday, October 18 in East Lansing, Mich.
