Vickers Named Co-Swimmer of the Week

Dec. 9, 2003

CLEVELAND - Capping an outstanding weekend that saw him set five meet records at the Zips Invitational, senior Warren Vickers was named Horizon League co-Swimmer of the Week, the league office announced today. This marks the second time this season that Vickers has won the league award.

Vickers set three individual meet records and teamed up to set an additional two in relay events. He set new meet marks in the 200 individual medley (1:42.50) and 400 individual medley (4:04.07) and the 100 freestyle (45.53), while helping both the 400 medley and 400 freestyle relays win in meet record times as well.

The senior from Durban, South Africa, shares the honor with UW-Milwaukee's Josh Baseheart, who collected four first-place finishes and a second-place nod in the Wheaton Invitational over the weekend.

Vickers was previously named the league's swimmer of the week on Nov. 18 after leading the Vikings to a win over Eastern Michigan on Nov. 15 at the Busbey Natatorium. He joins Pieter Pelser and Luke Wilkens in earning the award this season for the men's team.

The Vikings are off until they face Florida International on Jan. 11 in Biscayne Bay, Fla.
