CLEVELAND - Tina Abbott and Luke Wilkens were both named Horizon League swimmers of the week for their efforts in the Nov. 25 loss at Ohio State, the league office announced late Tuesday. The pair becomes the fourth and fifth swimmers to earn the league award so far this season.

Abbott won the 500 freestyle in Cleveland State's 147-81 loss to Ohio State on Nov. 25. Abbott posted a time of 5:29.83 to pick up the win for the Vikings. The win by Abbott was one of just two wins on the day for the Cleveland State.

Tina Abbott was named Horizon League women's swimmer of the week on Tuesday.

Wilkens, meanwhile, won the 500 freestyle and finished second in a pair of events in the 137-96 loss to Ohio State on Nov. 25. Wilkens posted a time of 4:37.79 in the 500 free, then recorded times of 1:43.15 in the 200 freestyle and 50.33 in the 100 butterfly in finishing second.

The pair joins Warren Vickers, Pieter Pelser and Marianne Lionell as being honored by the league during the fall semester this season. Vickers won the honor on Nov. 18 after leading the Vikings to a win over Eastern Michigan, while Pelser and Lionell received the award after setting school records in the season-opening weekend on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1.

The Vikings return to action on Saturday with the Zippy Invitational in Akron. The meet begins on Thursday (Dec. 4) and continues through Saturday (Dec. 6).
