Gustavo Barrios To Compete At World Championships

CLEVELAND - Cleveland State junior Gustavo Barrios (Panama City, Panama/Kiski) will be representing Panama at the 2001 World Swimming Championships in Fukuoka, Japan from July 22-29. He will be competing in the 50 freestyle, the 50 butterfly, the 100 free and the 100 fly.

A member of the CSU Dean's List Club, Barrios has won four Midwestern Collegiate Conference titles in three years. His freshmen year, Barrios was victorious in the 50 and 100 free and anchored the 400 free relay team to a victory which instrumental to CSU winning its second MCC title. This past year, he claimed the MCC championship in the 100 free.

Barrios will be training in Japan during the month of July in preparation for the Championships.
