CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State sophomore Jakub Dobies has been selected as one of 13 Mid-Major All-Americans as announced by CollegeSwimming.com on Monday afternoon.

"This is a great honor for Jakub and very well deserved," Director of Competitive Aquatics and Head Swim Coach Wally Morton said. "He is in an elite group of company and this speaks volumes about his performance this year, especially in his primary event at nationals. We look forward to an even better year from Jakub next season."

Dobies concluded his sophomore campaign by competing in two events at the NCAA Division I Swimming & Diving Championships in Federal Way, Wash. three weeks ago.

He finished 22nd in his primary event, the 100-yard breaststroke, just missing out on becoming the first All-American in program history. Dobies came back to place 35th in the 200 breaststroke after being ranked 38th in the field.

Dobies was the only swimmer to represent the Horizon League at the NCAA Championships this year. He was named the Horizon League Athlete of the Year and set four school records during the year, including both the 100 (53.64) and 200-breast (2:00.43).
