INDIANAPOLIS- Two members of the Cleveland State swimming and diving program were honored this week by the Horizon League as `Athletes of the Week' following performances at a home tri-meet vs. Xavier and Oakland this past Saturday.

Senior Berry Thompson was honored for the first time this season and the seventh time of his career as the Horizon League `Swimmer of the Week' for CSU. He was joined by freshman Danny Roberts as the league's `Diver of the Week.' This was the second time of the season that the freshman Roberts was honored by the league.

Thompson won one event in the tri-meet this past weekend, taking home a first place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (45.44). He also helped two relays to second place finishes, swimming in both the 400 freestyle relay (3:04.49) and 400 medley relay (3:23.86) on Saturday.

"What I like about Berry is he loves to compete, he's excited every time he has a swim meet," said Head Swimming Coach Wally Morton. "He sets high goals for himself and we're looking forward to a great end of the season and end of a career for Berry."

"Coming off our hard training his times were quite impressive for this time of year," Morton added. "I was excited about how well he competed coming off our training trip."

On the diving side, Roberts continued his stellar freshman campaign leading the CSU divers. The freshman took home two dominating wins, winning the 1-meter dive by 15 points (295.58), and the 3-meter dive by an incredible 31 points (328.95).

"Winter training was a great time for Danny to grow and improve, and he came off training in our first meet and showed that hard work paying off," said Head Diving Coach Rich Karban. "He's been improving his dives and he's got a lot of great things to come."

The two award winners will be back in the pool twice this weekend, as the men first take on Notre Dame at home this Friday at 4:00 p.m., before then hosting Wright State Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in the final home meet of the season for the Vikings.
