Final Stats

Cleveland, OH - The Cleveland State swimming and diving teams made the most of their only home meet of 2001 by pounding Baldwin-Wallace and Gannon yesterday afternoon in Robert F. Busbey Natatorium. The men's team remained undefeated by cruising to their fourth and fifth victories, while the women improved to 4-2 on the season.

The men won all 13 of their events behind an early spark from sophomore diver Chris Jones (Brookpark, Ohio/Berea). Jones won the 1-meter (276.80) and 3-meter (276.60) events and is unbeaten on the boards this season. CSU received outstanding efforts from each of its swimmers, notably: sophomore Lyle Wilkens (Bloemfontein, South Africa/Grey College) in the 200 back (1:59.40) and sophomore Niall McGrane (Dublin, Ireland/St. Mary's Rathmines) in the 200 fly (2:00.15).

The women's team got out early and often, taking first in each of its swimming events. Freshmen Samantha Jones (Pietermaritzburg, South Africa/Pietermaritzburg) and Marlene Przykling (Ingersoll, Ontario/Ingersoll District Collegiate Institute) continue to swim well for the Vikings. Jones took first in the 200 fly (2:17.60), and Przykling won the 400 IM (4:54.98) and the 200 back (2:12.27).

The teams travel to Columbus on Tuesday, Nov. 20, for a 6 p.m. showdown with Ohio State.
