CLEVELAND - The Cleveland State men's swimming and diving team showed it enjoys swimming in the familiar confines of the Robert F. Busbey Natatorium, winning its third and fourth straight matches at the pool this season, defeating Baldwin-Wallace and Gannon in a triple-dual meet. The Vikings won 12 of the 13 events in coasting to the victory over the two schools. CSU defeated Baldwin-Wallace by a 155-75 margin, while knocking off Gannon by a 145-92 count.

"We worked the guys hard lifting weights and in the pool this morning, so to come out and post some of the times they did, I'm very pleased," head coach Wally Morton said.

Gabriel Linton picked up a pair of wins on the day, winning the 1000 freestyle in 10:37.79 and the 200 breaststroke in 2:12.76. Chris Jones also chipped in with a pair of wins in the diving events, scoring 290.18 on 1m and 299.55 on 3m.

Warren Vickers also came close to setting a school record in the 50 freestyle, finishing first in 20.80, just eight one-hundreths of a second off the top time in school history. Niall McGrane won the 400 individual medley in 4:13.71, while Ryan Klaus won the 200 butterfly in 2:01.25. In the 100 freestyle, Daniel Thomasson won in 48.40, while Pieter Pelser won the 200 backstroke in 1:53.67. Luke Wilkens closed out the individual wins, finishing first in the 500 freestyle in 4:58.30.

"Warren being just off the school record was a very positive sign for us," Morton said. "Swimming tired as he was, and without a championship-style suit, to pull off that time was incredible. That should put him in among the top swimmers in the nation at this point in the season."

The Vikings return to action on Saturday, Nov. 15, when they host Eastern Michigan for a 1 p.m. start.
