Federal Way, WASH. -- Cleveland State sophomore Jakub Dobies concluded his participation in the 2008 NCAA Men's Swimming & Diving Championships on Saturday afternoon (March 29) by finishing 35th in the 200-yard breaststroke. The competition, which was hosted by the University of Washington, took place at the King County Aquatic Center.

"Jakub went out today and had a nice swim to finish his participation in the NCAA's this year," CSU director or competitive aquatics Wally Morton said. "This was an off event for him but since he competed in the 100 yesterday and was eligible to swim today we considered it a bonus for him.

"I am very proud of Jakub for everything that he accomplished this year. It was made even better by being able to finish it by swimming against some of the top swimmers in the world at this meet.

"Jakub has continued to show improvement in all of his events over his two seasons and I look forward to seeing even bigger and better things from him in his final two seasons," Morton added.

Dobies, who finished 22nd in his primary event, the 100-yard breaststroke on Friday, entered the 200-yard breaststroke ranked 38th in the 40 swimmer field. He turned in a time of 2:07.45 to improve to 35th in the field.

Dobies, the only swimmer to represent the Horizon League at the NCAA Championships this year, entered the championships after earning Horizon League Athlete of the Year honors this past season. He set four CSU school records during the year, including both the 100 (53.64) and 200-breast (2:00.43).
