Columbus, Ohio- The Cleveland State Vikings' swimming and diving program officially concluded its 2012-13 season Sunday afternoon, as two Viking men, Alex Lewis and Justin Hill, competed at the Last Ditch Qualifier Meet at Ohio State University.

The Junior Lewis was CSU's top placer of the two, finishing with a second place showing in the 100 butterfly. After swimming a 48.30 in the prelims, he swam a 48.79 in the finals to earn that second spot.

Senior Justin Hill swam two prelims and one final event Sunday representing the Vikings. After participating in both the 50 freestyle (20.52) and 100 freestyle (45.72) prelim, he chose to swim just in the 50 final, placing fifth in a time of 20.72.

Assistant Coach Kevin Rapien traveled with the two Vikings to the event Sunday, and while neither will be advancing to the NCAA Championships, he was extremely proud with their showing.

"For extending their taper out one more week they swam very well and were right on their times from the conference championships," Rapien said. "The opportunity for them to swim with some great competition (Sunday) was something we could not pass up."

"Overall we were pleased with the performances," he added.

Lewis and Hill were both leading members of the Vikings' squad that took home the 2013 Horizon League Championship crown last weekend at UIC.
