A Horizon League championship finalist, he will continue to be a contender in the distance events this season.
2002-03 - Junior Season
Had a tremendous comeback from shoulder surgery, becoming a multiple finalist in the mid-distance and distance freestyle events at the Horizon League Championships...posted the team's fourth fastest time in the 500 free (4:47.67) and the 100 breast (1:01.03).
2001-02 - Sophomore Season
Competed only in the fall due to shoulder injury...participated in the 200 and 500 freestyle, 100 breastroke, and 200 breastroke...had the team's third best time in the 100 breastroke (1:02.59) and the fourth fastest in the 500 freestyle 4:57.61.
2000-01 - Freshman Season
Was a member of the Midwestern Collegiate Conference Champion 800 freestyle relay...finished fifth in the 200 freestyle and eighth in the 1650 freestyle at the MCC Championships...had the team's second fastest times in the 200 freestyle (1:43.46) and 1650 freestyle (16:47.94).
High School
Participated in swimming, water polo, and biathlon at Grey College...received all-state honors for swimming in 1997 and 1998...was a member of the South African National Team in biathlon and water polo.

Is president of the Student Athlete Advisory Council...swam for the Bloemfontein Health and Racquet Club...younger brother of former Viking swimmers and current record holders Ryno and Henk Markgraaff...son of Archie and Gwennie Markgraaff...born May 18, 1980...sports management major.
