Andrew Hancock returns to his alma mater for his fifth season as an assistant coach, having led the Vikings to unprecedented success during his previous four. Serving as the assistant swimming coach for both Viking teams, Hancock has led the men's team to at least 10 wins in each of his four years while helping build the women's team from a four-win team in 2007-08 to a 15-win squad last season.

The recruiting coordinator, facility manager and record-keeper for Cleveland State, Hancock was recognized over the past offseason as an honorable mention for CollegeSwimming.com's Career/Lifetime Assistant Coach-of-the-Year award.

From 1999-03, Hancock enjoyed a highly successful career for the Vikings. Named the Horizon League Swimmer of the Year in 2002, he won six individual titles, including the 1,650 freestyle in each of his final three seasons.

He was able to win four consecutive conference titles as a member of the Vikings' 800 freestyle relay team, setting a then-conference record in the event in 2003.Hancock also formerly held the school-record in the 400 IM, being the first Viking in school history to break the four-minute barrier in the event. Hancock was able to compete against some of the best swimmers in the sports' history as an age group swimmer in Australia, including Ian Thorpe and Grant Hackett.

Hancock began his coaching career at CSU, volunteering as an assistant for the men and women during the 2003-04 season before heading to Northwestern.

Hancock spent three years in Chicago, where he was the Head Age Group Coach at NASA/Wildcat Aquatics out of Northwestern University before he returned to his alma mater in 2007.

At Northwestern, Hancock's swimmers achieved 13 top-25 National Rankings over a two-year span, including two first place and seven top-five rankings.

While he was at Northwestern, Hancock gained valuable insight into coaching and worked with some of the best swimmers in the world.

Hancock graduated from CSU in 2004 with a Bachelor's degree in Finance. He married former Viking swimmer Rebecca Guerra, in 2005 and the couple has one son, Oliver. They reside in Brooklyn, Ohio.
