Chalmers McGillivray

Chalmers McGillivray is entering his second season as the Cleveland State men’s and women’s diving coach.

In his first season, McGillivray coached one diver on the women’s side, Brooke Eichel, to a sixth-place finish in one-meter and 11th-place finish in three-meter at the Horizon League Championships.

Prior to Cleveland State, McGillivray spent 15 years at various Michigan High Schools overseeing diving programs. His stints included Ypsilanti Public Schools, Brother Rice HS, Detroit Country Day HS, Birmingham Public Schools, and Troy School District.

McGillivray was twice named the Michigan High School Diving Coach of the Year in 2015 and 2021. He coached four All-Americans, four state champions, and was part of seven state championship teams at Seaholm High School.

A native of Seaholm, Michigan, McGillivray dove for Eastern Michigan University for a season, placing sixth in one-meter and tenth in three-meter. In that season, he helped the Eagles win the 2003 MAC Championship.

As a prep diver at Seaholm High School, McGillivray earned All-American and All-State honors in 2002.

McGillivray graduated from Eastern Michigan in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in political science and sociology.
