Vikings Selected to Finish Second in #HLSD Preseason Poll

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana - The Cleveland State men's and women's swimming and diving team were selected to finish second in the Horizon League this season, as voted upon by the League's seven head coaches. The Vikings, both men's and women's, received one first place vote.

Cleveland State men's (43 points) and women's (42 points) teams were voted second by the League's head coaches with each team earning a first place vote. The Vikings were the runner-up teams in the 2020 championships. Cleveland State returns men's 200-yard IM champion and 2019-20 Horizon League Men's Swim and Dive All-Academic Team member Timothy Kubacki.

Both the men's and women's team competed against Notre Dame College last week, sweeping the Falcons. The Viking men cruised to a 209-53 win while the Cleveland State women posted a 156-77 victory over the Falcons.

The CSU men won all 14 races contested Thursday and took both first and second place in 12 of the 14 races.

Senior Timothy Kubacki and freshman Bob Fick both won a pair of individual events and swam on at least one winning relay.

"It was a really good meet," head coach Hannah Burandt said about the team's first meet. "It was so much fun to shake off the rust and race. There's a difference between swimming and racing. Our team has done a great job at swimming, but after all this adversity and everything we've been through, it was great to see them get out and race."

Cleveland State will announce all scheduling updates as they become available.
