CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State University men's and women's swimming and diving teams were both named Scholar All-America Teams for the fall semester in an announcement Tuesday by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).

The women's team finished with a 3.55 grade point average in the fall semester while the Viking men finished with a 3.32 grade point average. Both programs posted the highest such figure in the Horizon League.

It is the sixth consecutive semester in which both programs have claimed Scholar All-America honors.

Cleveland State posted one of the top 25 GPA's in Division I on the men's side while the women's team sat just outside the top 30 and among the top 20 percent of DI.

Seven Vikings posted 4.0 GPA's during the most recent semester: sophomore Dominik Niedzialek and seniors Curtis Roden and Jared Stergar of the men's team and senior Michaela Bargardi, sophomore Erica Henrichsen and seniors Morgan Massie and Claudia Zido on the women's team.

To be selected as a CSCAA Scholar All-America Team, programs must have achieved a grade point average of 3.00 or higher over the previous semester.

The Vikings had 33 student-athletes named to the Horizon League Fall Academic Honor Roll last week across the men's and women's programs. Both CSU teams led the HL in Honor Roll selections in their sport.

Founded in 1922, the CSCAA—the oldest organization of college coaches in America—is a professional organization of college swimming and diving coaches dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming & diving at the collegiate level. 

Both programs close the regular season this weekend by hosting Oakland Saturday, Jan. 26, at 2:00 p.m.
