CSU Closes Regular Season at Ohio State This Weekend

Live Results - Ohio State Winter Invitational

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State University men's and women's swimming & diving teams have their final meet in advance of the Horizon League Championships this weekend.

Both programs will take part in the Ohio State Winter Invitational over two days this weekend. Prelims will begin at 11:00 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday while finals will begin at 5:00 p.m. Saturday and 4:00 p.m. Sunday. All traditional swimming events will be held with the exception of the 800 freestyle relay. A full schedule of events is listed at the bottom of this page.

Live results for the meet will be available by clicking here. In addition to CSU and host OSU, other schools competing this weekend are: Cincinnati, Eastern Michigan, IUPUI, Kentucky, Miami (Ohio), Notre Dame, Pacific, Penn State, Pittsburgh and Purdue (women only).

This is the third consecutive season in which the Vikings have headed to Ohio State in advance of the League meet. However, in the previous two campaigns, CSU had competed at Ohio State in dual action earlier in the season.

This will be the third consecutive weekend of competition for the Cleveland State women. The Vikings dropped duals at Youngstown State and undefeated Buffalo last weekend. Five Vikings won individual events against the Penguins—junior Ashleigh Bennett, sophomore Gabriella Marinelli, junior Molly McNamara, freshman Gracyn McQueary and junior Cassandra Oltman.

The CSU men return to action after having last weekend off. The Vikings fell at Oakland on the final weekend of January in their last action. Sophomore DJ Arslanian won two individual events against the Golden Grizzlies and was subsequently named Horizon League Swimmer of the Week for the second time this season.

A number of the programs the Vikings will compete against this weekend are highly rated in CollegeSwimming's team championship rankings. On the women's side, Ohio State, Kentucky, Notre Dame and Purdue are all among the top 25. Two other women's programs are among the top 15 in the mid-major listing as well. The Ohio State and Notre Dame men are both among the top 20 while four other teams competing on the men's side are among the top 50.

Cleveland State will return to action when it hosts the Horizon League Championships Feb. 21-24.
