DAYTON, Ohio - The Cleveland State University men's and women's swimming and diving teams both dropped close decisions on the road to Horizon League foe Wright State Saturday afternoon inside the WSU Natatorium.

The CSU men dropped a 150-143 decision that came down to the final race while the women lost by a 160-133 margin.

Sophomores Tommi Wolst and Molly McNamara both won three individual events to lead the CSU cause in defeat.

The men's dual between the Vikings and the Raiders came down to the final event, the 200 freestyle relay, as whichever team won the event would clinch the dual. Wright State edged out the win in the race by .29 seconds to secure the victory.

Wolst was part of four Viking wins on the day as he swam the lead leg on the day's first event, the 200 medley relay, as CSU won in 1:33.68. Wolst went on to win the 100 backstroke (50.98) and the 200 backstroke (1:51.59). He ended his afternoon by topping the field of 11 in the 200 IM in 1:53.55.

Senior Philipp Sikatzki joined Wolst on CSU's winning 200 medley relay and also won the 100 butterfly in 48.72 seconds. Sikatzki placed second in his lone other individual event, the 200 freestyle, in 1:41.97.

A pair of freshman both won events for Cleveland State as well. DJ Arslanian won the 200 butterfly in 1:55.69 while Tyler Stevenson was first in the 500 freestyle in 4:48.94. Arslanian was third in the 100 butterfly in 51.63 seconds.

Sophomore Jared Stergar posted runner-up finishes in both breaststroke events. He finished the 100 in 59.28 seconds and the 200 in 2:11.51.

In addition to swimming on the winning 200 medley relay, senior Robert Tolson placed second in the 100 freestyle (47.72) and third in the 200 freestyle (1:46.17).

Senior Declan McLaughlin was the runner-up in his lone individual event of the day, the 50 freestyle (21.92). Senior Phillip Brittain was third in the 50 free (22.12) and swam the second leg on CSU's winning relay.

On the women's side, McNamara swept the butterfly events for the third consecutive dual and tacked on another win as well. She began her day by winning the 200 fly in 2:05.52. She proceeded to win 100 fly in 57.46 seconds and then capped her effort by placing first in the 200 IM in 2:11.86.

Freshman Gabriella Marinelli won the 200 freestyle in 1:54.99 and placed second in the 500 freestyle in 5:14.55. She also swam the anchor leg on CSU's winning 200 freestyle relay, which finished in 1:38.22.

Senior Anna Evans, freshman Meghan Bobick and junior Jamie VanDewerker also swam on CSU's winning relay.

Bobick also placed second in both the 200 freestyle (1:55.87) and the 100 freestyle (53.01). VanDewerker was second in the 50 freestyle (24.85) and came in third in the 100 freestyle (54.60) while Evans was third in the 50 free (24.93).

Sophomore Michaela Bargardi and Cassandra Oltman both earned runner-up finishes in backstroke events. Bargardi was second in the 200 back (2:08.02) while Oltman was second in the 100 back (1:00.96) and third in the 200 back (2:14.70).

Senior Ally McConnell and junior Tobie Zeller added runner-up finishes for the Vikings as well. McConnell was second in the 1000 freestyle (11:26.32) while Zeller took second in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.53).

Cleveland State will now return home for its final two dual meets of the season, beginning with defending champion Oakland Friday, Jan. 27.
