Vikings Fall At Oakland In Final Horizon League Dual Meet

ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Cleveland State men's and women's swimming and diving teams returned to the pool this weekend, traveling to Oakland for their final Horizon League dual meet of the season. On the men's side, the Vikings fell to Oakland 182.5-117.5, while the women fell to the Golden Grizzlies by a score of 177-117.

Men's Swimming & Diving
The men were paced by Tommi Wolst and Szymon Golczyk, who picked up five of Cleveland State's six first place finishes. Wolst earned three first place finishes in the 100 breaststroke (56.10), 200 backstroke (1:50.72), and the 200 individual medley (1:50.82), while Golczyk picked up a pair of wins in the 200 butterfly (1:48.51) and the 100 butterfly (47.96).

Cleveland State's final individual win came from Philipp Sikatzki in the 100 backstroke (48.85), while Sikatzki also picked up a second place finish in the 100 butterfly (48.04).

Gage Alleman also picked up a second place finish for the Vikings, earning his in the 200 breaststroke (2:06.51).

In the relay events, Cleveland State's A team took home a first place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:29.73), while the Vikings' A team placed second in the 400 free relay (3:05.80).

Women's Swimming & Diving
On the women's side, the Vikings were led by Molly McNamara and Tori Taffner, as the duo picked up all five of Cleveland State's first place finishes. McNamara posted her wins in the 200 butterfly (2:05.66), 100 butterfly (56.64), and the 200 individual medley (2:09.08), while Taffner's came on the diving board in the 1-meter (250.20) and 3-meter events (267.08).

Cleveland State was also able to post four second place finishes against Oakland, including two from Michaela Bargardi in the 100 backstroke (1:00.26) and 200 backstroke (2:07.10).

Also picking up second place finishes for the Vikings were Anna Evans in the 50 freestyle (24.91) and Jamie VanDewerker in the 100 freestyle (53.91).

Cleveland State will compete in its final dual meet of the season next weekend, traveling to Buffalo for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
