Swimming & Diving Adds Nine For Next Year

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State head swimming and diving coach Paul Graham has announced that nine student-athletes will join the program for the 2015-16 season.

The spring signing class of 2015, which will enroll this fall, includes Szymon Golczyk (Zielona Gora, Poland/PSKK Zielona Gora), Addison Kaufman (Godfrey, IL/Alton), Sean Mulvin (Sandusky, OH/Perkins), Curtis Roden (North Canton, OH/Hoover), Jared Stergar (Willowick, OH/Eastlake), Dan Wilcox (Willow Grove, PA/Upper Moreland), Tommi Wolst (Leipzig, Germany/Landesgymnasium fur Sport Leipzig), Chad Wright(Ontario, OH/Ontario), Ryan Johnson (Hudson, OH/Hudson) and Molly McNanara (Sydney, Australia/St Paul's Grammar)

"We are excited to add nine student-athletes to the group of 10 that made commitments in the fall," Graham said. "All of the assistant coaches did a great job of identifying athletes that will help the program. We can't wait to get the 2015-16 season started."

Golczyk is a butterfly specialist from Poland and a member of KS Korner Zielona Gora club team.  He is a Polish National team member and was Polish record holder in the 4x100 medley relay.  The son of Renata and Dariusz, Golczyk has three brothers and plans to major in Mechanical Engineering. 

Kaufman is a Breaststroke/IM specialist and is a four time IHSA state qualifier and 2015 MVP of his high school team.  The son of Kurt and Beth Kaufman, he has two brothers and plans to major in Physical Therapy.

Mulvin is a freestyler focusing on the 100 and 200 and was the runner-up in both the 100 & 200 freestyle at the Ohio Division II state championship.  He is the son of Kathy and Michael Mulvin and has a brother and a sister.  He plans to major in mechanical engineering.

Roden is a diver and part of the club team at Canton City Schools. He was a two-time state qualifier and finished eighth at this year's state meet.  He was also a state champion gymnast and a four year academic letter winner.  He plans on majoring in Exercise Science.

Stergar was a two-time state qualifier in the IM and Breaststroke.  He also qualified for the Speedo Winter Junior Nationals and was team captain of his high school team his final three seasons.  The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American plans to major in Biology. He iss the son of Jeff and Carol Stergar and has two brothers.

Wilcox holds the school record for six dives and was a medalist at the state meet.  The son of Herb and Allyson Wilcox, he will major in Pre-physical therapy.

Wolst is the son of Steffen and Elfrum Wolst and is a resident of Leipzig, Germany.  He was a club teammate of current Viking Phillip Sikaztki and is planning on majoring in International Business.  He will swim IM and backstroke for the Vikings.

Wright is a Butterfly/Backstroke/Distance free swimmer who helped his high school squad win back-to-back district championships.  He also claimed the 100 butterfly district title as a junior.  The son of Mary Beth and Keith Wright, he has a brother and sister and is undecided on a major.

Johnson is a breaststroke and sprint freestyle specialist. He was on Hudson's 400 Free relay that took second place place at the Ohio High School championship meet.  The son of Andrew and Deanna Johnson, he is planning to major in History and Education.

McNamara is a butterfly specialist who attended St. Paul's Grammar School where she received the "Swimmer of the Year" in 2014.  She was a medalist at the NSW All School swimming championships in the 50, 100 and 200 Butterfly. McNamara is the daughter of Sue and Phil McNamara.
