Philipp Sikatzki Earns HL Swimmer of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State sophomore Philipp Sikatzki has been named the Horizon League Men's Swimmer of the Week after an impressive performance Friday (Feb. 6) and Saturday (Feb. 7) against UIC and Notre Dame

At UIC, Sikatzki won three separate events. In the 100 backstroke, Philipp finished with a winning time of 49.91. He also finished with a first place time of 1:51.68 in the 200 backstroke. In his third first place finish, Sikatzki  finished the 100 butterfly with a time of 49.36. He is undefeated in the 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly this season. Sikatzki is also ranked first in each of those events in the Horizon League and top 60 nationally in both. 

The next day the Vikings traveled to Southbend where they faced off against the Fighting Irish. Philipp finished the 50 freestyle with a first place time of 20.79 and the 100 freestyle with a winning time of 45.49. He is currently ranked third in the Horizon League in the 50 freestyle and fourth in the 100 freestyle. His 100 freestyle time at Notre Dame is within .15 of his lifetime best.
