CLEVELAND, Ohio- The Cleveland State men's swimming and diving team competed in the Third Annual Magnus Cup on day one at Busbey Natatorium.  Cleveland State tallied 655 points on the day, which is good enough for first place through day one.

In the finals for the men, junior Danny Roberts finished first in the 3-meter dive with a season-high score and meet record of 348.50.  Rhys Robbins finished third with a score of 164.20. In the 200 yard freestyle relay, Adam Ingledew, Philipp Sikatzki, Robert Tolson, and Declan McLaughlin placed first with a time of 1:22.62. Phillip Brittain placed first in the 50 yard breaststroke with a meet record time of 25.78. Philipp Sikatzki won the 200 yard IM (1:50.14), beating second place by over four seconds and placed second in the 50 yard freestyle (20.69). Just behind Sikatzki, Adam Ingledew placed third (20.85) in the 50 yard freestyle. 

The men finished off the day by placing first and second in the 400 yard medley relay. Philipp Sikatzki, Mauricio Gonzalez, Robert Tolson, and Phillip Britain took first with a final time of 3:23.19.

"It was a very solid day of racing for the women's team, morning and evening. Very pleased across the board. We have to make sure we show some intensity tomorrow morning with the men. I am pleased with the first day of racing and look forward for the next two days," said Head Coach Paul Graham. 

The Vikings will be back in the pool tomorrow for day two of the Magnus Cup, with prelims beginning at 9:00 a.m. and the finals starting at 5:00 p.m. Diving will begin at 1 p.m.
