Vikings Impressive at Last Dual Meet

SOUTH BEND, Ind.- After convincing wins against Horizon League foe Valparaiso, the Vikings fell in a hard fought battle to Notre Dame on their final regular season dual meet of the season on Saturday afternoon.  CSU fell to the Fighting Irish 204.5- 94.5.

The Vikings (10-6) had wins from Al Shillito in the 100 back with a time of 51.59 and Danny Roberts in the one meter diving with a dominating performance of 327.29. The other win was in the 200 free relay of Ingledew, Nordike, Grant, and Lewis for a winning time of 1:25.68.

 The Men were runner ups in the 200 butterfly with Justin Kermack, Al Shillito in the 200 back, and Nathan Grant in the 200 Breast.

The Meet featured a tribute to Notre Dame Head Men's Coach Tim Welsh and Head Cleveland State Women's and Men's Coach Wally Morton who were in their final dual Meet against each other spanning 29 years. Coach Welsh and Morton have combined 637 wins with both over 300 each.

Morton said after the conclusion of the meet, "I was touched deeply by Notre Dames celebration of my career and our very lasting relationship of the two schools over almost forty years. I was proud of my team the way they represented the Vikings," said Morton. 

 The Vikings reached double digit wins for the 12th straight year in dual meet wins. Next up is the Horizon League Swimming and Diving Championships at the Robert F. Busbey Natatorium on the campus of Cleveland State.
