Lewis Sets Second School Record in Back-to-Back Days

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.- The Vikings returned to the pool on day two at the U.S. Winter National Championships.  It was another record breaking day for the Vikings.

Alex Lewis had another great day of swimming at the U.S. Nationals setting another school record in the 100 fly with a time of 48.11 and then anchoring the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 19.68 going under 20 seconds for two days in a row.  The group of the 200 Free Relay finished 12th in the nation.  Lewis also had an impressive time of 49.41 in the 100 back.  Justin Kermack dropped his time to .70 in finishing with his best time of the season with a wall touch of 3:58.36 in the 400 IM.

On the women's side, freshman Madisen Tretter had a prelim time of 1:04.94 in the 100 breast and Alex Johansson had a seasonal best time of 55.86 in the 100 fly.  

"I was pleased with all the swim times today.  Nathan Grant tied his lifetime best time in the 100 breastroke.  Alex Johansson, Madisen Tretter, Adam Ingledew, and Al Shillito had seasonal best times for preliminary swims.  The team continues to perform at a high level," said a happy Morton.

The Vikings will finish the final day of U.S. Nationals tomorrow, beginning with preliminaries at 9:00 a.m. and the finals will begin at 5:00 p.m.
