Ademolu, Balc Named To NSCAA All-Ohio Team

Dec. 11, 2002

CLEVELAND - Cleveland State sophomore Stephen Ademolu (Windsor, Ontario/Herman) and freshman Adrian Balc (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) have been named to the 2002 National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Ohio Team that was released earlier this week. Ademolu earned a spot on the first team, while Balc was a second team selection.

Ademolu's 27 points and 11 goals were the most for a CSU player since Paul McIlravey tallied 27 and 13 in 1996. His outstanding production earned the 5-9 forward a spot on the Horizon League first team and All-Newcomer squad in addition to being named Newcomer of the Year. In addition, just last week, Ademolu was named to the NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region third team.

Balc was second on the team behind Ademolu with nine goals and four assists for 22 points. He garnered second team All-Horizon League honors as well as a spot on the All-Newcomer team. Balc finished second in the league with four game-winning goals, including overtime winners against Butler and Detroit.

Cleveland State completed the 2002 campaign with a 10-11-0 record - the most wins the program has recorded in over a decade. In addition, the Vikings advanced to their first-ever Horizon League Championship match where they lost to nationally-ranked (No. 8 NSCAA) UW-Milwaukee.
