Ademolu Earns Spot On NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region Squad

Dec. 5, 2002

CLEVELAND - Cleveland State sophomore Stephen Ademolu (Windsor, Ontario/Herman) has been named to the 2002 National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Great Lakes Region Third Team which was released this afternoon. With this most recent accolade (the first Viking since Paul McIlravey in 1996), CSU has now garnered All-Region honors 80 times in the 49-year history of the soccer program.

Ademolu's 27 points and 11 goals were the most for a CSU player since McIlravey tallied 27 and 13 in 1996. His outstanding production earned the 5-9 forward a spot on the Horizon League first team and All-Newcomer squad in addition to being named Newcomer of the Year. The Vikings posted a 7-1 record when Ademolu scored at least one goal, including a 5-3 victory over Illinois-Chicago in the conference semifinals when he notched a pair of goals.

Cleveland State finished the 2002 campaign with a 10-11-0 record - the most wins the program has recorded in over a decade. In addition, the Vikings advanced to their first-ever Horizon League Championship match where they lost to nationally-ranked (No. 8 NSCAA) UW-Milwaukee.
