Three Vikings Named To All-League Teams

Nov. 5, 2004

Three Cleveland State men's soccer players have been named to all-Horizon League teams for their efforts throughout the season, the league announced today. Senior goalkeeper Amir Kettani was named to the all-league first team while freshmen Craig Coleman and Cormac Finn were tabbed as members of both the all-league second team and all-newcomer team.

"The awards we received today are an acknowledgement from the other league coaches of how close we were to success this year," head coach Pete Curtis said.

Kettani finished the regular season with a Horizon League-bests in saves (93) and saves per game (6.20) and ranked fourth with a .782 save percentage. He twice recorded a league high 13 saves in games, accomplishing it against UIC (Sept. 26) and Butler (Oct. 24), and registered a 1.62 goals against average with a pair of shutouts.

"It is a testament to the hard work that Amir Kettani has put in since coming to Cleveland State," Curtis commented. "He has developed into a top-notch goalie."

Coleman started in all 17 games played at defense this season, while Finn recorded a goal as a defender in 17 starts on the year.

"Cormac Finn has really showed his versatility this year," Curtis added. "He has played at least five different positions on the field this year and played them all well. Craig Coleman has shown that he is one of the most composed defenders on the ball in the Horizon League."

The Vikings will open up the Horizon League Championship on Saturday (Nov. 6) at UW-Milwaukee at 2 p.m. EST.
