Cleveland State Clinches No. 2 Seed In Horizon League Soccer Tournament

Oct. 30, 2002

CLEVELAND - Cleveland State (8-8-0, 5-2-0 HL) wrapped up the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Horizon League Soccer Tournament, despite losing at No. 10 UW-Milwaukee (NSCAA poll) on Sunday. The Vikings gained the second spot by virtue of Wright State's 2-1 victory over Butler. Prior to this season, CSU had never finished higher than fifth in the league.

The Vikings will host seventh-seeded UW-Green Bay in one of four quarterfinal matches being held at campus sites. The contest will take place at Krenzler Field at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens.

Now in their ninth year in the Horizon League, the Vikings have never hosted a conference tournament match. With at least three games left, CSU has already equaled its win total from the past three years combined.

Cleveland State closes out its regular season with a pair of matches this week. Tonight the Vikings travel to Pittsburgh for a 7:00 p.m. match with the Panthers, followed by a 2:00 p.m. contest Sunday, Nov. 3 at Bowling Green.
