INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Cleveland State junior men's soccer player Brad Stuver has been named Horizon League `Player of the Week' after his performance against UIC last Friday (Oct. 14). The league office made the announcement on Monday afternoon.

"Any successful team has to have a good goalkeeper and Brad Stuver has been just that for us," head coach Ali Kazemaini said. "We rely on him heavily and our team plays with a lot more confidence when he's in the net and we know he is behind us."

Stuver made a career-high 11 saves in a pivotal road win that propelled Cleveland State to the top of the Horizon League standings. The Flames entered the match with the second highest scoring offense in the league and fired 12 shots on goal, but Stuver made save after save.

UIC's Ivan Stanisavljevic and Eric Frazier, first and second in the league in goals, combined for four shots on goal and came up empty.

"The thing about Brad is he's one of the few guys that consistently trains at the same level," Kazemaini said. "If you popped in the tape, you couldn't tell the difference between his effort in the second day of the preseason or during a three-match losing streak or where we're at now winning four straight. Brad really trains like a professional."

With 54 saves on the season, Stuver ranks second in the Horizon League. He has been especially big in the Vikings last four matches, all victories. In that stretch, he's allowed just three goals while making 21 saves and posting a pair of shutouts.

The first place Vikings will look to continue their four-match winning streak on Wednesday (Oct. 19) afternoon when they host IUPUI in a non-league contest. Cleveland State re-enters Horizon League play Saturday (Oct. 22) night when they welcome Green Bay to Krenzler Field at 7:00 p.m.
