Kickoff against Detroit is set for 2:00 p.m. following the women's contest that is slated for a 12:00 noon start.

REVIEWING LAST WEEK: The Vikings were in action twice last week. Here are reviews of those contests:

Match 11: Ohio State 2, CSU 0 (Oct. 9, Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium)
The Vikings fell behind early allowing an OSU goal in the second minute of play and were never able to come back despite controlling much of the first half. The Buckeyes scored again in the middle of the first half, giving them the 2-0 lead. Brad Stuver guarded the net after halftime, recording four saves, helping the Viking defense shutout OSU in the second half.

Match 12: CSU 1, SIU-Edwardsville 0 (OT) (Oct. 11, Krenzler Field)
Aaron Adkins' overtime goal in the 96th minute gave CSU a 1-0 victory over the Cougars, CSU's third win at Krenzler Field this season. The goal came just seconds after Slavisa Ubiparipovic had a shot on goal, with the keeper knocking the ball back into play giving Adkins the second chance opportunity. Nick Harpel posted the shutout for the Vikings, recording five saves.

2009 SEASON PREVIEW: With 11 seniors returning, including nine that have been in the 2009 starting lineup so far, the men's soccer team is bringing experience and depth to the field this season. 2008 all-league first team honoree senior Slavisa Ubiparipovic returns up front, leading the team in points (8) and assists (5) and tying for second on the team in goals (2) this season. He is joined up front by freshmen Aaron Adkins (3g, 6pts) and Admir Suljevic (2a, 2pts) who both earned high school All-America honors following their senior campaigns, giving the Vikings a loaded front row. Experience is the key to the midfield this season, as all three starters return: Marco DiFranco, who is second on the team with four assists, Josh Williams who is tied for the lead on the team in goals with three and Kevin Malone. The entire defense returns for 2009 after posting six shutouts last season. Leading the charge this year are seniors Eric Tattersall, Mitch Boyer (1g, 2pts) and Anthony Baraldi and junior Audric Kilroy (1a, 1pts). They have played in a combined 41 matches so far this season, allowing 15 goals. Goalkeeper Nick Harpel has played in eight contests, recording 38 saves, an 0.85 GAA and three shutouts. Backing up Harpel have been freshmen, Brad Stuver (23 saves) and Almir Suljevic (4 saves).

OCTOBER OUTLOOK: The CSU men's soccer team holds a 9-14-3 record during the month of October, including 7-3-1 at Krenzler Field from 2006-09. In 2008 the Vikings went 6-1 during the month, falling only to Ohio State in Columbus, giving them a perfect 5-0 record at home. The winning streak continued this weekend when the Vikings beat SIU-Edwardsville 1-0, giving them a perfect 6-0 record at Krenzler Field during the month in 2008 and 2009.

...THE STREAK CONTINUES: Not only are the Vikings perfect at home during October, but they hold an unbeaten 3-0-1 record at Krenzler Field this season. This streak is tied for the best start in CSU history since the 1987 squad started 4-0. The Vikings also started 3-0-1 in 2008, 2004 and 1990.

MONTH OF SCORING: Thirteen current players have scored at least one point during the month of October in their career, led by senior Josh Williams who has recorded 11 points. The rest of the group includes; Slavisa Ubiparipovic (9), Mitch Boyer (8 pts), Marco DiFranco (7), Stephen Byer (4), Eric Tattersall (2), Bryan Henson (2), Aaron Adkins (2), Jeff Baker (1), John Wallace (1), Brian Donnelly (1), Kevin Malone (1) and Mike Barton (1).

ADKINS IS BACK ON TRACK: Aaron Adkins recorded his third career goal when he scored the game-winner in the 96th minute against SIU-Edwardsville. Adkins' first two career goals came over a month ago during the 3-0 victory against St. Bonaventure and the 2-2 double overtime draw at IUPUI. His three goals ties him for first on the team with senior Josh Williams.

SUPER SLAVISA: Slavisa Ubiparipovic recorded his fifth assist of the season on Sunday, making him the team leader in the category. Ubiparipovic beat his season best total of four assists that he set last season, which was also the team high. The Vikings are 4-0 when Ubiparipovic has recorded at least one assist this season.

HARPEL SHUTS-OUT AGAIN: Junior goalkeeper Nick Harpel posted the 1-0 shutout against SIU-Edwardsville this past weekend, giving him three shutouts on the season. Harpel now has 13 career shutouts, making him the lone holder of fifth place in the CSU record books. He is three shutouts shy of tying his season shutout record that he set last season with six.

NEXT UP: The Vikings will go back on the road next week and play one contest in Pennsylvania and one in southwestern Ohio. They will face Pittsburgh on Wednesday (Oct. 21) and Horizon League foe Wright State on Saturday (Oct. 24). Both matches are set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
