INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Seven student-athletes from Cleveland State were honored on the Horizon League 2011 Fall Academic All-League teams that were announced on Monday (Jan. 30) by the League office.

With seven selections, Cleveland State ranked third in the Horizon League behind Valparaiso (12) and Butler (eight).

The CSU volleyball team had four selections, tying the Valparaiso men's soccer and volleyball teams with the most from one school in a given sport.

Seniors Megan Barhorst, Jordan Goad and Amy Grabiec joined junior Kara Koch on the squad.

Barhorst carries a 3.95 GPA while majoring in art. She was named to the 2011 Capital One Academic All-District second team earlier this year. That award came on the heels of a season in which she was fourth in the Horizon League with 32 service aces and was ninth in the league with a .265 attack percentage.

Goad was named to the All-Horizon League team after dishing out 1,033 assists in 2011, fourth most in the league. She ended her career with 4,482 assists, the second most in program history. Goad takes classes to become a pre-physician's assistant and has a 3.92 GPA.

Grabiec has a 3.5 GPA and majors in occupational therapy and psychology. She moved into second place on the CSU career digs list with 1,481 in her fourth season. Her 447 digs - good for 4.38 per set - ranked her fifth in the Horizon League.

Koch, the League's `Scholar-Athlete of the Month' in December, was named to the All-Horizon League team in addition to playing her way onto the all-tournament team. She was one of just two players in the league to rank in the top-10 in both kills per set (2nd - 4.1) and digs per set (10th - 3.1). She became the 14th Viking to record 1,000 career kills and heads into next season with 1,076.

Admir Suljevic and Manuel Conde represented the men's soccer team.

Suljevic, an academic junior with a 3.35 GPA while majoring in physical education, received recognition for his efforts on the playing field and in the classroom earlier this season when he was named to the Capital One Academic All-District team. He was an All-Horizon League performer in 2011 after scoring seven goals - good for fourth in the league - despite missing five matches due to injury.

Suljevic averaged 1.46 points per game, the highest output by any player in the Horizon League.

Conde carries a 3.86 GPA and majors in mechanical engineering. He joined Suljevic on the All-Horizon League team after dishing out three assists from his midfield position in 2011.

Natalie Daniels represented the women's soccer team on the list.

She was an All-Horizon League and first team All-Ohio pick after a senior season that saw her score three goals and six assists, the fourth most helpers in the league.

Daniels graduated with a 3.68 GPA in finance while ending her playing career as the school record holder in goals (19), assists (19) and points (57).

Student-athletes were elected to the Academic All-League teams based on balloting conducted by the League's faculty athletics representatives and sports information directors.

In order to be eligible for Academic All-Horizon League consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher and have completed at least one year at the member institution.
