CLEVELAND - The Cleveland State men's soccer team fell to Butler, 3-2, on Friday night at Krenzler Field, and fell into sixth place in the Horizon League in the process. Stephen Ademolu and Nic Ademolu scored for the Vikings, but it wasn't enough as CSU fell for the seventh time in their last eight matches.

"This ends our hope of finishing with a top four placing," head coach Pete Curtis said. "We can't gift the number of goals we've been giving up and expect to fight back game after game."

The Vikings fell behind 2-0 early in the match, as Butler got goals from Scott Olson and Andrew Pancio in the first 10 minutes. CSU began to claw its way back into the match, as Stephen Ademolu scored his 12th goal of the season in the 20th minute on a header over Butler goalkeeper Evan Reinhardt. CSU tied the match with Nic Ademolu's third goal of the 2003 campaign, which he poked in the goal on a loose ball in the penalty area in the 33rd minute.

But Butler would answer before the half, as Cory Edgington scored a goal off a corner kick, heading in a cross from Pancio past CSU goalkeeper Scott Deitz in the 39th minute of the match, which turned out to be the gamewinner.

"Somewhere along the line, our defense has to step up and do the job for us," Curtis said. "We're constantly facing an uphill struggle in games that we should be winning in. We're scoring goals, but at the other end of the field, we've got to have something to work with."

The Vikings will next face Akron on Tuesday, Oct. 29, at Akron's Lee Jackson Field. CSU will have its final Horizon League match of the season on Saturday, Nov. 1, at UW-Green Bay.
