CLEVELAND - Following a scoreless first half, Cleveland State (8-6-0/5-1-0 HL) erupted for three goals in the final 45 minutes en route to a 3-0 victory over UW-Green Bay (3-9-0/1-3-0 HL) Thursday afternoon at Krenzler Field. With the win, the Vikings assured themselves of one of the top three seeds in the Horizon League tournament, meaning CSU will host a quarterfinal match on Nov. 9.

After a tentative opening stanza played in a rain-sleet mixture, sophomore Stephen Ademolu (Windsor, Ontario/Herman) put the Vikings on top in the 48th minute when he headed in a cross from freshman Tyson Rose (Scarborough, Ontario). Senior Joachim Walker (Bay Village, Ohio/Bay) also picked up an assist on the play.

CSU pushed the lead to 2-0 in the 77th minute when sophomore J.R. Trandal (Selje, Norway) nodded in a pass from senior O.C. Haugen (Hornindal, Norway/Stryn) for his first career goal. The Vikings put the game out of reach three minutes later when Phoenix freshman goalkeeper Pat Czuprynski mishandled a ball and Ademolu slotted it in the back of the net for his team-leading ninth goal of the season. CSU is now 6-1 on the year when Ademolu scores.

Senior goalkeeper Josip Novkovic (Euclid, Ohio/Lake Catholic) was forced to make only one save in recording CSU's second shutout. Czuprynski stopped six shots for the Phoenix.

The Vikings are in action again on Sunday, Oct. 20 when they host in-state rival Akron at 2:00 p.m. Cleveland State's six seniors will be recognized before the final regular season home match.
