Green Bay, Wis.-Green Bay's (8-2-3, 3-0-1) lone goal in the 54th minute proved to be enough as the Phoenix downed the Vikings (3-7-2, 0-2-1) 1-0 in Horizon League action at Santaga Stadium Friday evening. The victory extended Green Bay's unbeaten streak to 10 matches, while CSU has not won a match in three games.

Junior Mike McCormack scored his first goal of the season in the 54th minute. Junior Tyler Rosenberg sent a cross from the right end line to the far post where McCormack gathered a loose ball and kicked it into the net.

Once again the Vikings struggled on offense as they would only muster six shots, including only two shots on goal. Green Bay's defense held CSU in check and withstood a lot of action in their end as the game came to a close.

"We deserve a little bit better," head coach Ali Kazemaini said. "We are in all of our games. We just need one ball to go in the net to get things going."

Kazemaini was also pleased because Green Bay is one of the better teams in the league. "To hold a team like this to only one goal says a lot about the character of our guys. I feel we are ready to do some special things."

CSU had two great opportunities to score. Their first chance came when Mitch Boyer ripped a 20-yard free kick that was on target, but goalie Adam Stiki tapped the ball over the crossbar for the save.

Their second came in the 86th minute when Roshard Gilbert took a long pass from Mitch Boyer and had a break away on goal but Stiki was once again up to the challenge and tipped the ball over the end line. Stiki came up with two saves for Green Bay, while Dan Duric had six stops for the Vikings.

CSU looks for their first league win on Sunday when they travel to Milwaukee for a 1:30 pm contest.
