DETROIT, Mich. - A goal by Jason Massoglia in the sixth minute of overtime gave Detroit a 2-1 overtime win over the Cleveland State men's soccer team Wednesday afternoon in Detroit.

Massoglia headed home a corner kick by Vahid Assadpour to send the Vikings (6-5, 2-2 Horizon) to their second straight defeat.

"I don't believe that it's possible for us to play worse than we did in the first half," head coach Pete Curtis. "That was by far our worst performance of the year, without a doubt. The team that played out there was not the same team that won six games."

Detroit (4-5-1, 2-1 Horizon) opened the scoring when George Kithas scored curled a shot around the Viking wall past goalkeeper Josh Cain with under a minute left in the half to put the Titans up, 1-0, at the break.

The Vikings didn't wait long to even the score up. Seven minutes into the second half, Harveer Mann curled a free kick into the box from about 35 yards out on the left side, which Titan goalkeeper Matt Strabbing initially stopped. He let up a rebound, however, that David Prentice pounded into the back of the net from three yards out for his first goal of the season. The goal sent the game into overtime, where Massoglia's goal ended the match.

"We've got a lot of work to do in order to regain the respect of our conference opponents after this display," Curtis said. "I give all the credit to Detroit for hanging in when we took control of the match in the second half, and for getting the goal when it mattered."

The Vikings return to Krenzler Field on Saturday to host Wright State in another Horizon League matchup. Saturday's game starts at 2 p.m.
