Chicago, Ill. - Eric Nock recorded a hat trick, scoring three goals in the second half, as Loyola defeated Cleveland State, 3-0, on Saturday (Sept. 26).

"We're a little disappointed," head coach Ali Kazemaini said. "It was 0-0 after the first half, and we had been playing well, but we just made a couple of errors that gave Loyola great scoring opportunities."

A turnover right outside CSU's goal box allowed James Howe to find Nock for an easy score at the 47:40 mark. Nock added to the lead at 63:50 after receiving a pass right in front of the net and firing a shot before Viking goalkeeper Brad Stuver could react.

"I have to give the other team credit," Kazemaini said. "We hurt ourselves by being out of position and making mistakes down by our goal, but Loyola played well and capitalized on those errors.

"We had one good chance to get within 2-1 on a breakaway pass, but we couldn't convert. It would have made the game a little more interesting, and changed the way we were playing, but we just weren't able to capitalize."

Nock scored the third and final goal of the match with just under four minutes remaining in the contest.

Stuver recorded four saves in the match.

The loss dropped Cleveland State to 3-5-0 (1-1 HL) on the year, while Loyola improved to 2-5-1 (2-0-0 HL).

"We'll have to regroup from here," Kazemaini said. "We'll get back out on Tuesday and start preparing for Green Bay. We're a little disappointed with the way this one went, especially after ending the first half 0-0, but we're not too disappointed, as we did split on the road (beating UIC, 3-2, on Friday, Sept. 24)."

The Vikings, who are 13-0-3 in their last 16 contests at Krenzler, begin a five match home stand next weekend. CSU will play Green Bay on Friday (Oct. 1) at 4:00 p.m., and will take on Milwaukee on Sunday (Oct. 3) at 1:00 p.m.
