Moon Township, Pa.- Cleveland State's men's soccer team started the regular season just the way it ended the preseason, with a dominating win.
CSU used an early goal and pressuring offense to take down Robert Morris 2-0 on the road Friday night.
The Vikings got off to a strong start to the 2012 season offensively especially, taking just under 11 minutes to put a shot in the back of the net.
Freshman midfielder Cristian Arboleda took a pass from junior Zach Ellis-Hayden on a nice pass combination just outside the box to get CSU on the board.
Although the Vikings only got one goal in the first half of play, they put pressure on the Colonials defense all half long. Controlling possession for much of the half CSU was able to out-shoot Robert Morris 11-3, including a 6-2 shots on goal advantage.
That offensive pressure continued in the second 45 minutes in the play as the Vikings continued to attack the Robert Morris goal.
The attack eventually paid off for CSU again as sophomore Mike Derezic scored his first goal on the young season in the 73rd minute of play off a pass from Admir Suljevic.
Suljevic got the ball off a CSU corner and found Derezic for the goal just outside the 18-yard box.
For the game the Vikings out-shot Robert Morris 18-10, with an 8-6 shots on goal advantage.
The Vikings will continue on the road next week as they head to the state of Michigan for the U of M/Oakland Tournament. CSU will be taking on Oakland first Friday night at 5:30 p.m.
