Mohammad Fard is entering his six season at Cleveland State.

Originally from Iran, Fard came to the United States at age 14 and settled in Santa Ynez, California. In his two seasons of soccer in the United States, he broke all scoring records for his high school team and was an all-league first team forward.

After weighing scholarship offers - including an offer to be the placekicker at Iowa State University - Fard elected to attend Youngstown State. for two seasons. He led the team in scoring as a freshman in 1983, tallying nine goals and three assists. Included in the effort was a school-record four-goal and eight point performance against West Liberty.

In his sophomore season in 1984, he led the team in goals (5), assists (5) and points (15) but the YSU soccer program was discontinued following that season.

He later wrestled for the Penguins while on scholarship.

Fard remained at Youngstown State, graduating in 1989. He achieved inclusion on the Dean's List and graduated with a degree in sociology while obtaining minors in mathematics and social work.

A long-time soccer clinician, Fard ran the South American Soccer Clinics from 1982-90 and currently owned the Mohammad Fard Soccer Institute in Youngstown. In addition, he operated the Tri-County Sports Complex in Youngstown where he served as Director of Coaching.

Fard, who is single, resides in Youngstown.
