Opening Whistle
The Vikings face their second-ranked team this season as No. 5 Akron visits Krenzler Field tomorrow evening for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

The Green and White are coming off their second straight Horizon League win as they shutout IUPUI on the road, 1-0. Marko Rimac netted the lone goal in the 31st minute off a through ball from Pablo Kawecki. Omeed Naeemy made four saves while picking up his first shutout of the year and 19th of his career.

About Akron
The Zips are ranked fifth in the NCAA and enter the game unbeaten on the year, 8-0-4. Akron has won three straight and is coming off a 3-0 shutout of DePaul on Saturday.

The Zips have scored 25 goals this season and are led by Jason Shokalook with ten tallies and four assists for 24 points. Mitch Budler has played most of the games in goal, accumulating 17 saves and five shutouts.

This will be the 58th meeting of all-time against the Zips, with Akron holding a 41-12-4 advantage. The Zips have won the last two meetings with 4-0 shutouts, but the Green and White won the last game on Krenzler Field in 2019 3-1.

Preseason Poll
Cleveland State was picked to finish first in the Horizon League preseason poll, as voted on by the league's ten coaches. The Vikings finished with nine of the ten first-place votes for 99 total points. IUPUI was selected second with the final first-place vote for 80 points, and Oakland was third with 71 points.
