Nagucki & Pio Garner All-Ohio Honors

CLEVEAND, Ohio – Senior Alec Nagucki and junior Noah Pio of the Cleveland State University men's soccer team were named All-Ohio in an announcement by the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association Monday.

Nagucki earned a spot as a First Team midfielder while Pio claimed the lone forward position on the Second Team.

Nagucki and Pio were two of the three Vikings to play in all 19 matches in 2017, as both played significant roles in helping CSU reach the Horizon League semifinals for the sixth time in nine years.

Nagucki had previously earned his second straight All-League accolade and was an ironman for the CSU squad. For the fourth consecutive season, he appeared in every match, as he played in all 74 games in his collegiate career. Nagucki served exclusively as a defensive midfielder in 2017, as his technical ability was often key in helping CSU win back or develop position. He served a key link in moving the ball from the back line up to the attacking midfielders and forwards. Nagucki also contributed to a couple important goals for CSU this past season. He scored a tying goal in a come-from-behind League win and assisted on a winning goal that clinched a playoff spot for the Vikings.

Pio, who also earned All-Horizon League honors last month, led CSU in points (15) and assists (5) while tying for the team lead in goals (5). In Horizon League play, Pio was third in assists (4) and was also among the top 10 in the League in goals and points. Pio finished the season in strong form, posting at least a point in seven of the final 12 matches. He scored or assisted on eight of the final 12 goals CSU scored against League opponents in 2017. Pio factored into both goals in a 2-1 League win over Belmont and assisted on both tallies in CSU's playoff clinching win over Wright State. He led the team in overall shots (50) and shots in League play (27) this season.

Cleveland State has now had at least one All-Ohio selection in each of the past 10 years.

Cleveland State competed in the Horizon League Tournament for the eighth time in nine years in 2017 and reached the semifinals for the sixth time in nine years. Both of those figures are the highest in the League in that span.
