Cleveland State Ties FC Cincinnati, 1-1

CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Cleveland State University men's soccer team had a strong preseason result Wednesday night as the Vikings tied FC Cincinnati, 1-1, at Gettler Stadium.

FC Cincinnati took a 1-0 lead into halftime, but sophomore Antonio Burgoa, who came on as a substitute, scored early in the second half to level the match. That 1-1 scoreline stood until the end of the game.

With 22 of their 30 matches complete in the United Soccer League, FC Cincinnati currently has the third-highest point total (42) in the 29-team league. FC Cincinnati also defeated New York City FC of Major League Soccer and Xavier University in exhibition matches earlier this season.

CSU started a relatively balanced lineup in terms of class year as three seniors, four juniors, three sophomores and one freshman started the contest.
Full statistics from the match were not made available.

The Vikings will have one final exhibition match before the regular season opens as they play at Saint Francis (Pa.) this Sunday, Aug. 21, at 11:00 a.m.
